The Red Cape Treaty: Obama’s Ploy to Distract Us

So less than 2 months after the Senate voted down the latest gun control bill, 54 to 46, Obama and John Kerry are making noise about signing the United Nations Small Arms Trade Treaty.

This is brilliant timing for them, even I have to admit that.

Everyone knows that conservatives get really really mad when you start talking about  taking away or guns or restricting access to them or, well, pretty much saying anything other than “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition” and trust me, I’m in agreement.

Stay the heck away from my guns and we won’t have a problem, but if you start talking about my guns in sneaky, thief-like way, we are going to have issues. Especially the phrase “it’s for the children” crosses your lips.

It’s like waving a red cape in front of a charging bull.

It pisses us off, but it does do one thing for Obama. It moves our attention away from bigger issues.

So this is perfect timing. Obama signs a treaty that can never be approved, since a majority of the Senate disapproves of gun control and there is no way he could get 2/3s of the Senate to approve the treaty so that it could be ratified. If he thinks he can, he needs more mental help than the American healthcare system can ever provide.

That’s all this is, a distraction.

From the IRS, from the DoJ getting AP and Fox News phone records, from Benghazi.

He would like nothing more than for us to flip our lids and start in on gun control again, even though he hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in hell to get this treaty to go anywhere.

Don’t fall for it. Don’t let him distract you from the important issues.

Ignore the red cape, goring the matador is our goal.

  1. Everyday he’s hustling.

  2. Great article. He's the master of distraction for sure.
